Get special gift Register in the section below "register for gift" The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is hosting a fun “Expat Fair Thailand 2016” to boost the image of Thailand among the kingdom’s large and diverse expatriate community and to encourage everyone to travel more domestically, enjoy Thailand’s many attractions and discover unique local experiences. There will be various attractions and events taking place at the free two-day event in Fragrant Park. But it is Thailand’s cuisine that will take center stage thanks to a Food Fun Fair theme. Food trucks will sell international specialties that will represent many of the nationalities of people who make their homes in Bangkok. There will also be cooking competitions to encourage everyone to try and make traditional Thai dishes for themselves.  Prominent members of Thailand’s expat community have been invited to the fair to share their experiences of living here. These big names include Thailand Tourism Ambassador and former Miss Universe, Ms. Natalie Glebova; linguist, author and TV presenter, Andrew Biggs and luk thung lovers Jonas Anderson and Christy Gibson who will be singing folk songs on stage at the fair. Also performing on both days will be K-Pop band 316, which has members from Korea and Thailand. As well as the singing there will be shows from Japanese drummers, Indian dancers and the chance to enjoy a Swing Dance session – a dance style that’s becoming hugely popular among expats and Thais alike. There will be plenty of chances for expats and locals to join in the fun at the Expat Fair with traditional Thai games, a language challenge and a cooking challenge. There will also be a prize draw to win one of 40 Nok Air tickets to destinations in Thailand, with 20 tickets being given out on each day of the event. This is because TAT wants to encourage more Thai residents and expats to travel in the kingdom especially to see Thailand’s 12 Hidden Gems, which comprise two or three provinces each from the five regions of Thailand.
Representing the North are Lampang, where time stands still, Phetchabun, mist shrouded mountains of flowers, and Nan, the most romantic province in Thailand. In the Northeast, two enchanting provinces not to miss are Buriram, where ancient Khmer and modern Thai civilisations meet, and Loei, the province with the most pleasant climate in the country. In the Central Plains, two fascinating provinces are Samut Songkhram for its unique river-based lifestyles and Ratchaburi for its famous art and craft communities. Representing the East are Trat, which has been selected as an ideal destination to enjoy pristine islands and beaches while Chanthaburi is home to all fruits of Thailand. In the South, Trang is the place to be for nature and food lovers, Chumphon for beautiful beaches and crystal clear sea, and Nakhon Si Thammarat for a variety of distinctive religious and natural attractions. There will be arts, crafts and culinary activities at the Expat Fair for people to try out, each unique to one of the 12 Hidden Gems Destinations. The expat fair is ideally located near to Tong Lor BTS station so there’s no need to bring cars on either day.
