Bangkok's Sukhumvit Soi 11 is bursting with new high-end bars and restaurants, including Marshmallow, which opened its doors in early 2012. If you have something a little more respectable than flip-flops and harem pants to wear, you might want to venture into Bangkok’s hi-so (that’s high society for the uninitiated) territory. Though there’s no dress code, inside the dimmed lighting, chandeliers, shiny surfaces and bar stocked with Ketel vodka, Moet champagne, Karakuchi sake and other premium alcohol, along with a local clientele dressed to the nines before a night out at Bed Supper Club might leave you feeling a bit rough around the edges if you haven’t at least run a comb through your hair.
Marshmallow is perfect for a warm-up session to a big night out – especially thanks to its location within tottering distance of Q Bar, Nest, Levels and Bed. But the venue also makes an equally good spot for a romantic rendezvous with someone worth impressing. Outdoor seating beckons for quieter nights and people-watching, or there’s indoor seating, including a few tables and bar chairs where, unsurprisingly, the more dedicated drinkers tend to prop themselves. Compared to nearby Oskar, a similar concept, Marshmallow is quiet. While you probably won’t have as raucous a time as you would in more packed bars, you will get better service, and room to breathe. But that doesn’t mean to say Marshmallow isn’t lively. The atmosphere buzzes on weekends thanks to attracting some of the best DJs in the city to perform every Friday and ‘Pop Culture Thursdays’, when the best in 70s, 80s, 90s and noughties R&B and pop helps get you in the mood for the night ahead. But, thankfully, the DJs create a fun atmosphere, not a thumping din that you have to shout to be heard over. Venues Suk Soi 11Last nine (9) by latest edits - open table to see more Tour zone Icons
