TopBang Lamphu is an area approx 5kms West of Siam Centre.
The area is inland of Rattanakosin (Grand Palace) and extends to cover the area of Khao San Rd on the northern part of Rattanakosin, Bangkok's backpacker mecca.
Khaosan Road (spoken as Khao Sarn Road) (Thai: ถนนข้าวสาร) is a short street in central Bangkok, Thailand. It is located in the Banglamphu area of (Phra Nakhon district) about 1 km north of the Grand Palace and Wat Phra Kaew in the tour zone of Rattanakosin.
"Khaosan" translates as "milled rice", a reminder that in former times the street was a major Bangkok rice market. In the last 20 years, however, Khaosan Road has developed into a world famous "backpacker ghetto". It offers cheap accommodation, ranging from 'mattress in a box' style hotels to reasonably priced 3-star hotels. In an essay on the backpacker culture of Khaosan.

Transport
Land: major transport systems BTS (skytrain) and MRT (Subvway) do not service this area, you need to use p ublic buses otherwise taxi car, tuktuk or motor bike.
Waterways: Nearby inland canal Saen Saep f or express transfer behind the city into zone of Bang Lamphu, Rattanakosin and Chinatown or via Chao Phraya river serviced by ferry boat Chao Phraya river ferry

There are quite a few historical and cultural attractions as it is next to Rattanasokin, the area of the Grand Palace Apart from the famous Icons of the Grand Palace, this area is also home to Khaosan Rd which has become a famous trendy backpacker zone, which is where East meets West with a crazy and memorable entanglement and humour. So many worthy nominees, Bangkok (Thailand) is a champion of culinary taste delights.
- Bang Lamphu has many dining locations include a few stunning vantages points along the river, however none so popular
as "Khao San Rd, with three (3) zones, Busy - not so and quiet and they all boarder each other, refer map image link above.
- A major aspect of local culture is street food, if you need a few tips try Thai food $1 Menu, ideally you should have a local host or a few drinks to give you the confidence to try (try NOT die).
Rooftop
- Bang Lamphu does not boast any significant rooftop venues in terms of retail Hospitality, however you should visit Wat Saket / Golden Mount, which was once upon a time the highest point in Bangkok, here you will have 360 degree view
- Bang Lamphu, being next to grand palace zone of Rattanakosin is generally expected to be quiet, however being a back packers it's home to Nightlife zone khao San Road, it's not just for the young at heart, it's mixing pot of night bazaar trendy bars and clubs
