This popular floating market is about 100 km southwest of Bangkok in Ratchaburi province. Photos of this vibrant market featuring many small boats laden with colourful fruits, vegetables, agricultural products and local food paddled by Thai women wearing bamboo hats, are among the most often published in travel magazines and brochures of Thailand.

Therefore, it is a very attractive place for tourists to see this old style and traditional way of selling and buying goods. The 2008 Nicolas Cage film Bangkok Dangerous also featured the market. Nevertheless, soon after more and more road sand rail networks were constructed and people preferred street transportation to that by water, so some floating markets were forced to move onto the ground, some were renovated and some were closed down.



The Laotukluck Floating Market (Old Damnoen Saduak Floating Market) was located at same area of current Damnoen Saduak Floating market. Tourists ‘ ve just walked over and crossed the Bridge to access old part of the floating market. It is a very attractive place for tourists to see the old style and traditional way of selling and buying fruits, vegetables, etc., from small boats. Tourists will also see traditional Thai houses, the way they live and travel by boats, and please have a try riding on a small boat to experience the floating market and to see more.

This would be a worthwhile trip. The market is over 100 years old as history above and have not changed at all, while the traditional Thai style housesand paddle boat will bring you back to wonder history. Around this area, boat trip services are available for sightseeing along smaller canals branching off from the Damnoen Saduak canal.



Visitors can observe Thai traditional houses, 2 Chinese Temples and the way they live as well as tasting exotic fruits, local food and refreshing drinks along the waterway. After cruising along the Damnoen Saduak Floating Market, you can disembark to walk along the banks of the canals to some of the best food boat vendors! This awesome cafe, the “Hoklee Cafe” is a section of the Old Dumneon Saduak Floating Market. The cafe was a big wooden house that was passed down from generations to generations. The house’s foundation and roof has been renovated but the interiors were kept un-touched to preserve its origins as much as possible.

Currently the owner has turn the house into a cafe shop for a quick stop off point for the passers-by, either by foot travel or by boat. The owner and the community of Lao tukluck are trying to rejuvenate the livelihood of the community as it was seen years ago
