Red curtains, glamorous feathers and long legs… and, since you are in Thailand, may we add ladyboys? 

While this is no Broadway or Can-Can show, 
Calypso Cabaret promises to be a feast
for your eyes and ears.

 

A fantastic evening at the Calypso involves a lot of dazzling performances by a wildly talented troupe of transvestite dancers, entertainers and lip-sync singers, not to mention bringing Marilyn Monroe and Michael Jackson back from the dead.

 

Some say it’s touristy and strange, but we say it’s a star-studded evening with glistening stage design, extravagant costumes, thrilling soundtracks and simply superb entertainment.
 
Calypso Cabaret is founded in 1908, It has been hailed as one of the cabaret show pioneers in Thailand.






 
Location: 

Calypso relocated in 2012 to Asiatique on the riverfront of Chao Phraya River

The Playhouse theater as taken over from Calypso former location inside Asia Hotel and continue a similar show, the location is excellent with skybridge connection from BTS skytrain station Ratchathewi.

The Cabaret shows deliver extravagant Broadway-style themes, as well as Thai classical dance, a comical Geisha repertoire, Chinese ballads and much more.


Calypso

Show time (Daily): 08.15pm and 09.45pm.     Prices as at: 2010-10:

  • Ticket: show only: 900 THB/Adult, 600 THB/Child.  Incl dinner at Brazilian Rio Grill Restaurant + 500baht
  • The "Rio Grill" is highly recommended a quality meat lovers buffet in a 5 star hotel (premium value)

If you care to venture further there are 3.5star local Thai style (non tourism venues) or 2star tourism Bars.  Each has a degree of safety and/or risk based on your Perception and the need for common sense.
