Zone: Family zone Chinatown 3 kms West of Siam central

Duration: half to full day or night

Packed with market stalls and probably the highest concentration of gold shops in the city.

The Chinese communities, relocated here from southern China in the 1700s, still continue their own traditions and religious practices.















During major festivities like Chinese New Year and the Vegetarian Festival, the dynamism and spirit of celebration spreads across town like wildfire, and if you happen to be around, don’t miss an opportunity to witness Bangkok Chinatown at its best. 


Make sure you visit Golden Buddha at Wat Traimit and the Yaowarat Chinatown Heritage Center, it's listed in this booklet. The exhibition centre is and excellent introduction and display.

The most popular reason to go here is the food and bargain hunting shoppers. Many eateries stay open long into the night or even 24 hours. The location is detailed in Shopping zones (not much on nightlife)

Public Transport: From BTS Skytrain station Siam allow 20 to 30 mins by Taxi or tuktuk. At peak traffic times this could be hours. Bangkok's traffic at peak times can be chaos for many reasons. You can also access via the Chao Phraya river ferry or MRT, all are displayed at this link
